Riverpond is a small town, not on any major road or trade route, in Voltana.
Riverpond was established in a clearing in a forest with a small river running through it. The river has pooled up into a small lake, with a ferry service that carts horses and carriages from the eastern farmland side to the western market side.
There is a small stone bridge at the south end of the river that leads to the western part of town. The town is surrounded on all sides by thick, leafy trees. There are many small hills and crags spattered about, including one at the north side of the lake, where a small waterfall powers a huge flour mill.
Riverpond is an old town, established many years ago. Locals tell stories that it existed even before the Burning Era, and that the village was kept safe by friendly spirits. At night, lights appear flying above and around the lake, and locals say that these are the spirits making sure everyone is safe.
On the 3rd of High Winter 498 CE, a priest named Evan Waybrush arrived at Riverpond. He sent there on a mission by Cardinal Redrose to investigate the magic stones supplied by Cidmuir. While there, he made quick enemies with the locals as well as the local priest and his daughter. Eventually, Brother Waybrush left to find an old castle where he would use as a base of operations as he conducted his research.
Not soon after, Remy left Riverpond to become a priest in Ortello.
A few months later, a strange animal began attacking the local farms. The creature was stealing and killing sheeps and other animals on the farms. Baron Vanden sent a letter to his old friend Delrune Mayze, a woman he knew to be a powerful wizard, suspecting the issue to be magical in nature. He also sent several letters to various towns asking for mercenaries and sellswords to help out with dealing with the animal.
The party met at the Onward Inn, being hired by Baron Vanden to take care of the wolf and find out what caused it to go crazy.
