Part 10: The Obsidian Prison

Session 47: Back to Voltana

Evening 15th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • The party, exhausted from their time in Hallowfel, took the night to relax Tol'Enay-Style.
    • Much merriment and libation was had by all.
    • Ekhart dropped his disguise for the evening and had fun with the monks and dwarves.
    • Sanglant, Langston, and Ezu talked for a bit, Ezu mentioning she would love to come back to Tol'Enay when they were done their quest.
  • Ekhart and Cid also talked about how his Sealing Spell works.
    • The spell comes in two parts; one to be cast outside the area of the void, and one in the centre.
    • The ritual would take about a minute in total.
  • Sometime during the party, Laef returned from her scouting mission to the Loridael Forest.
    • She explained that outside the Loridael, a human camp had been set up.
    • She also explained that some of the elves had been teaching the humans to summon demon monsters, though she was unsure of how or why.
  • The party decided to take a hard earned, long rest.
Morning 16th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • In the morning, everyone discussed their next moves.
    • Cid and Laef offered to either try and capture a demon from the Loridael, or return and reunite with Delrune.
    • Ekhart said they would probably be better served reuniting with Delrune.
    • Cid and Laef left for Mae Relian via the Summoing Circle of Tol'Enay
  • With Cid's Sealing Spell in hand, the party decided to head back to Big Uun using Cid's Faestride ability.
  • When they arrived, however, Big Uun was in the Fae version of Ambermoor.
    • Big Uun mentioned that he was drawn here because of the conflict that was happening in the city.
    • Apparently, people had been dying by the dozens in the city.
  • With a little investigating, Sanglant was able to locate the demon that had been killing the residence of Ambermoor.
  • After a little preparation, the Party was able to decimate the demon.
    • With her animal sense, Revana smelled the priests responsible for summoning the demon, and tracked them to a home.
  • Inside the home, the priests had captured a few of the residents and had been turning them into demons.
  • They quickly killed the priests without hesitation.

Session 48: Invasion of the Crimson Temple: Part I

Morning 16th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • Ekhart, Revana, Sanglant, and Remy left to head to Ambermoor Keep.
    • After getting inside, they reconnected with Dame Ira Royn.
    • They explained that the demons were being caused by Ortellian priests, and they dealt with them.
    • Dame Ira said that they have been on lockdown because of the demons, that kept respawning.
    • Also birds requesting help from Mae Relian were being killed by soliders outside the gates of the city.
  • They also learned that Amelia Adir had a magical sickness on her.
  • The party went to the castle to meet Gwendalyn, who greeted Sanglant with a hug.
    • Revana cast “Greater Restoration” on Amelia, who retook control of the Amberlands.
  • Countess Amelia ordered the lockdown be ended, and for the Ortellian soliders be captured.
    • The Countess also said that she had been planning a counter-offensive against the siege on Naveria.
  • The party then left for the Crimson Temple.
Evening 16th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • Arriving outside the Void, Sanglant brought the party into the Faerealm.
    • Using Cidmuir's spell, Ekhart cast the first half of the healing spell.
  • Traveling back to the Physical World, the party found that the Temple had a few camps of Priests guarding it.
  • Sneaking around the gully, the party managed to take out one camp sneakily.

Session 49: Invasion of the Crimson Temple: Part II

Evening 16th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • Ekhart, Revana, Sanglant, and Remy continued their assault of the Crimson Temple.
  • Sneaking around the back of the temple, they managed to neutralize the enemies on the balcony.
    • While sneaking near the Gravedigger's hut, they heard one half of a conversation inside.
  • Afterwards, they killed the other priests in the second camp.
    • On the corpse of the priests, they found several Obsidian Crystals, similar to what they found in the Loridael.
  • After a bit of planning, the party decided to raid the main chapel hall from the balcony.
    • During the fight, multiple priests used their Obsidian Crystals to summon demons to enhabit the other priests to help them fight.
  • Eventually, the party was victorious, Remy having banished one of the demons.
    • Realizing the other demon summoned was still on the physical plane, the party used their elemental boons to banish it back to the darkness.
  • The party also decided to neutralize the priest that was communicating with someone in the Gravedigger's hut.
  • With no more enemies around, Ekhart set to casting the second half of Cidmuir's spell to fix the Void in the Faerealm.
  • After a dazzling display of pure magic flowing through the air around them, the ritual was completed and the party was sucked into another plane.
  • There, they met the voice of Terra, who thanked them for healing her.
  • Revana asked Terra a few questions, which led Terra to explain that she was a Titan.
    • Her kind travels the universe, which they call the Lonely Expanse, searching for planets to make habitable.
    • During her journey, she met another titan named Solos.
    • The two of them traveled together, making amazing planets with their powers combined.
    • One of the planets they made was so amazing, it became a baby titan, Lunos.
    • Both Terra and Solos recognized that this new Titan would be the strongest Titan ever created.
    • Solos, seeing how much greater he could become with the power of the newly formed Titan, tried to take it's Heart.
    • Lunos stopped Solos by killing both itself and Solos in the process.
    • Terra, in her grief, took the Heart of Lunos and began to hibernate, pouring all excess Life into Lunos.
    • One day, Lunos's Heart would be revived and they would be reunited.
  • The party returned to the physical plane, now knowing that the planet they were on was the body of a sleeping Titan.
Morning 17th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • After resting in the Crimson Temple, the party set off for Naveria, where they would try to find the prison of Lenna and the final Elemental.

  • They traveled with Sang's Windwalk ability.
  • On the way there, the party saw a large war camp to the north of the city.
    • They appeared to be constructing large siege weapons in anticipation of a siege of Naveria.
Evening 18th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • The party flew into the city, passed the large stone walls that seal the valley city of Naveria off.
  • Finding a secluded alley way, they entered Delrune's Tiny Traveling Laboratory, and rested.
    • Inside the Lab, Ekhart explained that he has a spell that can get them into the plane that Layna and the Fire Elemental are, but he needs some additional information to finish his spell.
    • He'll need the written form of the true name of each of the elements.
    • They remembered Delrune using some sort of spell to project Sanglant's soul onto the ceiling a while ago.
    • Knowing that the true names of the elements were on their souls, the only element they didn't know was Fire.
Morning 19th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • The next morning, the party left the Lab and entered the Faerealm.
  • Inside they discovered that the Fae version of Naveria is a giant city named Praeya Del'na.
  • The city was full of humanoid looking spirits, similar to the spirits they met on the The Meraverus.
  • They traveled to a tavern, the Wayfarer's Rest.
    • Behind the bar was Boan, the Earth Gnasi they met on the Meraverus.
    • She explained she had traveled here after returning to the Faerealm.
    • The people of Praeya Del'na are decendants of humans and spirits and gnasi.
    • She gave the party a few lumens (the local currency) and said that they could make some in the Comic Bazaar, where they could sell human paraphernalia for lots of money.
  • The party traveled to the Comic Bazaar, where they sold a few of their personal items for some Lumens.
    • With their new money, Sanglant got his soul read by a fortune telling.
    • There they got the symbols for Water, Shadow and Life, as they were all written on Sang's soul.
  • Afterwards, the party traveled to the Aria Temple, where a temple dedicated to Lenna was built.
    • The party met Sellalar of Roads, the curator of the temple.
    • She said that Lenna the Human was beloved by the spirits from long ago, so they built this temple dedicated to her for saving the world.
    • Sellalar also explained that there was a painting of the true name of element of Fire in the Muse Galleria.
  • The party traveled to the Muse Galleria, to find the fire element.
    • There, they met Strago Oon Elda, an artist who had traveled the Faerealm for years gathering information about Fire.
    • He had completed his works, where he donated it to the Muse.

Session 51: The Battle Historia: Part I

Afternoon 19th Low Summer, 498 CE
  • The party learned that the painting of the Fire Rune, by Strago Oon Elda, was donated to the Muse.
    • The rune was going to be the prize for the next battle at the Colossus, the massive stone arena in the middle of Praeya Del'na.
  • Heading over to the colossus, the party found someone who knew about the battle.
    • They learned that the next battle was an important one, called the Battle Historia.
    • It was an arena battle commemorating some important historical battle from the past.
    • They learned that the battle being commemorated was the Relian Rebellion.
    • They also learned that, among several combatants, Boan was going to be competeting.
  • Deciding to see if they could join Boan's team, they headed back to the Wayfarer's Rest, to talk to her.
    • She said that she enjoyed fighting but hasn't been able to make a career out of it.
    • The party asked if they could join her team, to which she agreed.
  • With some time before the battle, the party spent some time in town.
    • Ekhart spent some time in the Stacks, watching plays and learning some info that he turned into useful magic research.
    • Sanglant also watched some plays in the Stacks, and gained a greater appreciation for physical performances.
    • Revana spent some time around the Colossus to see if she should figure out more about their competition.
  • Revana learned about their competitors. There were:
    • The Blehx Boys, representing Water
    • Ashzer the Ash Drake, representing Fire
    • Lord Larimar the Wraith Knight, representing Life
    • Yen Elth of the Midsummer's Storm, representing Wind
    • Fier and Ren, AKA the Mimmering Maw, representing, Shadow
    • The Soul Monger, representing Light
    • and Boan, on the Earth team.
  • As the battle was beginning, the party met with Boan at the Colossus.
    • Following an attendant of the stadium, they were led into a small waiting room and explained the rules.
    • The battle they were participating in was the Relian Rebelion, where 7 kingdoms of different Elements battle against each other while the humans of Relia fought back against them.
    • Each round, a particular elemental team would need to be “on top,” in the order of the Hymn of Terra, starting with fire.
    • Boan explained that the Hymn of Terra was an old nursery rhyme for children;
      • Fire creates Light
      • Light beacons Shadow
      • Shadow cools Water
      • Water becomes Life
      • Life binds Earth
      • Earth summons Wind
      • Wind feeds Fire

  • The Head of the Collosus, Janus Allar, entered the arena.
    • He congratulated the party, where they were presented with their prize; the Fire Rune painting by Strago Oon Elda.
    • When asked what they would do with it, the party agreed to donate it to the Muse for everyone of Praeya Del'na to enjoy.
    • They revealed the painting to the crowd, and Ekhart finally had the last rune, and can finish his spell.
  • The party said their goodbye's and entered their Traveling Laboratory.
    • Equipped with the last soul they needed, they just now needed the other runes inscribed on Ekhart and Revana's souls.
    • Working through the night, Ekhart was able to develop the Read Soul spell to figure them out.

    • Syndra had been transformed into a very human looking genasi, having merged with Lenna.
    • She tells the party she has been bound in this hallway for a thousand years, merged with Lenna and the demon.
    • The Obsidian Prison is a place Lenna build with three long hallways that lead to the other planes of existence.
    • She hasn't seen a human for a long time, though she does remember coming through a few years ago.
    • She also remembers a young boy coming to visit a while ago.
